Frequently Asked Questions

Is the course suitable for beginners?

Oh Yes! Our course is designed equally for beginners or advanced meditators. You progress from a beginners level to advanced within the same course. You do not have to take another advanced meditation course as it is within this one.

Are there any prerequisites to learning FISU Meditation?

None – only the desire to discover who you are, sort your life out, become a better person, cope better, etc.

What is the difference between FISU Meditation from other meditation systems?

Many schools offer just 3 lessons, and in our opinion, this is simply not enough. It takes between 30-60 days to establish a good new habit like meditation in your life – and as our course is longer, we are with you all the way on this journey of personal transformation and helping you establish a good regular routine of practising meditation.

How quickly do the benefits appear?

Stop being in a hurry – but the good news is that benefits appear within the first 7 days if you practice regularly and correctly. Allow it take a little longer to establish permanent change rather than something which you feel you have overcome, and haven't – and comes back to face you!

Do I need any beliefs to learn meditation?

FISU is a non-denominational, non-religious form of meditation, and we have taught both theists and atheists alike.

Is there any conflict with any religion or belief if I learn meditation?

We have had Priests and Nuns as meditators, and as we are not a religion, there should be no conflict with your personal beliefs. If you do have religious beliefs, then it is likely to deepen these.

Are there any concessions?

Usually, there is a 50% concession on all courses if you are registered unemployed and can prove that you are obtaining government benefits.

Which course is best for me?

All our courses are based on our Foundation Course structure, but some courses have focused content for Mental Health Well-Being, Restoring Happiness, LGBTQ Community etc. – so do write or speak to us about your needs so we can guide you to the right course.

What is the difference between Mental Health Well-Being Course and our Restoring Happiness Course?

Albeit these courses are similar, the Mental Health one, we would say is more internal and the Restore Happiness External. So if we were recovering from a break-up, divorce, betrayal or other external life drama, we would direct someone to this course if their mental health is in balance (just disturbed by the external events).
The Mental Health Well-Being course is more for people who have short to long term issues like panic attacks, depression, mood swings, OCD, and feeling less able and stable.

Can I shift from one course type to another?

Yes, if you think you need to - or we recommend this, and there will be a small surcharge to pay.

How long is the course?

There are 10 live instructor led sessions based over 12 weeks.

How often are the sessions?

Sessions are twice in the first week – and then once every other week – so very manageable. Furthermore, during each 14 days gap, there are self-paced lessons to enjoy and inspire.

How long is each session?

All sessions are around 2-hours and include a meditation to revalidate correct practice.

Are there any preclusions? (Mental Health)

If you are diagnosed Bipolar or have psychotic episodes, then meditation may not be right for you, but we evaluate this on a case-by-case basis, so do get in touch.

Do I have to attend an Introductory Talk?

Yes, it's obligatory in our system to learn about our unique speciality and what is required of you to make this work.

How do I Enrol?

Follow the Enrol buttons on the website. It's obligatory to attend a free introductory talk before the commencement on a course or cohort.

Do I practice at home?

Yes, home is always the best place to practise. There are other options discussed in the course.

Is there free support?

Oh Yes – we are proud of our family-like support that is 24/7.

Will I have the same instructor/teacher through the course?

In the majority, yes! A larger group or cohort has two instructors. We always try to keep the teacher you started with as the person who leads you to through the course.

Is there a FISU community that I can join?

Indeed! We have thousands of like-minded meditators around the world. We have weekly online events, day intensive and residential Togatherings – there's a lot to benefit from and enjoy.

What if I miss a session?

You can default/miss a session just once – other defaults have a small charge with the emphasis of keeping you on the time track. If you are in a cohort and have a delay, you might have to wait for the next cohort to re-join.

Is there a cancellation policy?

50% of the course is refunded up to to 21 days into the course only.

Who are the leaders of FISU Meditation?

Our unique system of individually prescribed meditation was designed by Avatar – Gururaj Ananda Yogi, who passed this physical plane in 1988. Since then, the organisation is now run by Gururaj's two prime disciples, Guru Rajesh Ananda (Guruji) and Jasmini Ananda Yogini who are husband and wife for over 40 years.

Do I get a certificate when I finish the course?

We do not issue certificates. We keep a note of all sessions attended in our central database with protected privacy.
